Hopefield at a glance
The small Western Cape Town of Hopefield, is nestled snugly between Vredenburg and Malmesbury, and just a 20 minute drive from Langebaan. Hopefield is the oldest town on the West Coast. It lies in the heart of the Sandveld and is the wheat and sheep farming hub of the region. It is also well known for its honey and over 500 different species of fynbos. Visit the unique little shop of the local Bee Keepers in Hopefield, offering pure fynbos honey products.
Despite not being a coastal town Hopefield, is fast earning its place on the calendars of those who know where to holiday. Attractions include the archeological site on the farm Elandsfontein where fossil bones and human artifacts date back to the early Stone Age and the beautiful Hopefield Dutch Reformed Church built in 1879. But it is the beauty of the Salt River, its accompanying marshes, cracked pans, big sky, savannahs, fynbos and old buildings that make the place so attractive.
